About me
Hello and Welcome to Daniela Louise Yoga!
I am so excited to be able to guide you in this hobby that has served my body and mind so well over the years.
As a bit of background on myself, I have been teaching or coaching for much of my life, having spent a 17-year-long career teaching mathematics, and before that coaching as a black-belt in Taekwondo. My journey in yoga starts however, when I underwent aggressive treatment for breast cancer at the age of 29. I am fortunately now 9 years in remission and have spent this time focusing on recovery and wellness. I was introduced to yoga as a means of developing mindfulness and regaining mobility, and having taken my own small steps I felt truly empowered by what it allowed me to accomplish.
Later, I spent several months at a martial arts camp in Phuket, Thailand, training everyday with world class instructors and athletes, including hundreds of hours of practice under very experienced yogis in an environment with a deep cultural connection to the roots of yoga. After returning to the UK, having properly caught the yoga bug and wanting to share it with everyone, I studied for a Level 3 Diploma in teaching yoga under YMCAfit - a highly respected 500 hour intensive course with the most experienced training provider in the UK - and became a fully accredited yoga instructor in 2016.
In the time since, I have previously run two yoga classes which unfortunately had to be discontinued when I became pregnant with my son who has medical complexities. However, alongside being a parent/carer I have always continued and received great benefits from my yoga practice. Teaching and coaching has always been such an important part of who I am and it is a true privilege to share these benefits with you. I can't wait to see you in the studio!
Namaste.

About Yoga
Classes are open to all levels and abilities. A combination of the following will be involved in all Yoga classes.
Dynamic Flow
An opportunity for students of all levels to explore a dynamic practice that cultivates greater stamina, strength and flexibility. Students will be challenged in a playful supportive way to reach beyond their perceived limitations. Classes maintain awareness and focus on the breath while moving through a series of postures. The sequence of postures may be different from class to class, but always follow an intelligent progression that moves from basic to complex. Postures may be held for longer periods of time for maintaining focus on good alignment and sound structure, and will flow together to unite the body to the breath and mind.
Deep Stretching
Through the sequence of movements, in which the asanas (poses) and prana (energy/breath) are inter-connected. Some of the poses are held for several breath cycles to refine the posture of the body, mind and heart. Classical yoga poses are taught, along with variations and a few “twists”, to help keep the mind attentive and the body and mind interested. We will practice being present, strengthen and stretch the muscles of the skeletal, respiratory and cardiovascular systems and cultivate the strength, flexibility and resilience of the body and mind.
Meditation
Unwind from the day in this hour class combining floor-based asana, guided breath work and various styles of mediation. From yin and restorative poses, we’ll prepare the body and mind to find stillness, closing the class with meditation techniques including visualisation and yoga nidra. The goal is to help both the mind and body shed any residual stress of the day and connect to the senses; promoting steady sleep and a grounded start to the following day.
